We Are Righetti
As some of you may know, Lukas, Alec, and I have started a blog called We Are Righetti to let he world know (after recent events) how great the students at our school actually are! You can email your story to wearerighetti@gmail.com or contact any of us! Below is where you can learn what we're looking for!
Happy Holidays
-Victoria
Website info: http://wearerighetti.blogspot.com/
"As Righetti students we are generalized into a general populous and when a small group of students makes poor decisions we all get made out as those students. The We Are Righetti blog is for the rest of the students to share their stories, accomplishments, challenges, and thoughts to show the rest of the community that we are amazing individuals with our own brilliant stories. Share your story and show that YOU are Righetti."
As an incentive to produce a masterpiece, 30 (yes, thirty!) Sphinx points for sending in a great, quality story! If everyone sends in a good story, everyone gets points!
Don't be afraid to let your families know and spread the word.
Happy Holidays

Music people in England- reeeeeaaaaaching out to youuuuuuu in the US of A
I teach music at a university in the UK, and one of my classes joined Nathan playing ukulele in one of Dr. Preston's classes via skype. My students are keen to connect with you guys. They have ideas, but don't really know how to make the direct connections... and I am no good at being a middle man(girl/lady/not-really-grown-up-person) and so I asked Jayce and Omar if I could post and put up a few of their blogs so maybe there could be a more direct link.
From January, my students will be planning and teaching lessons (1-to-1 private music lessons) and it might be fun if some of you were interested in doing a skype with them, or a video exchange, or something - I throw that out to you! It is certainly not required for their course, but has a lot do do with how they might use music in life, would be great for their learning, and hopefully would be fun! All of my students have had police checks before starting their course (because that's what you have to do in the UK to work with any minors)... so they have all been checked out to be decent people...
As for connecting - a couple of the people have blogs -
Pete the guitar player: petemaherguitar.wordpress.com
Rosie who plays organ: chichesterorganist.wordpress.com
Victoria (violinist) victoriaj94.wordpress.com
Others are on twitter:
Victoria (sax): @ToriHands
Jess (singer) @Jess_Bhatty (and here: https://soundcloud.com/jessandlaura-1/stay-with-me-cover )
Andrew (guitar) @woodeywood
Rebecca (clarinet) @beckieboo_94
Harriet (singer) @harrietcarter
Sarah (singer) @SarahHooplah
In the class we have violin, cello, guitar (acoustic and electric), piano, voice, organ, clarinet, sax, flute, and maybe a few more instruments... it is a jolly bunch and we would love to connect. Please feel free to introduce yourself or invite them to join in! I'm happy to connect too if you guys think up any projects. As someone who spent childhood summers in California, and now lives in the UK, I do believe the world is huge, but it is also a small place!
Have a great Saturday!

Everyone Deserves Points for Something...
Everyone basically gains 30 points for Remixing Poetry because as you know, that takes creativity.
Moving rocks with Eric Jackson
Hi I am Michael, yesterday I really needed help and Eric Jackson answered that call. My family had around 5 tons of small rocks delivered for us to renovate our backyard. He came and helped me moves all of these rocks and he was such a great help. For his hard work I believe that he deserves quite a bit of points for his hours of work. About 50 I believe.

Win yourself an A
The first person to 150 points by the end if the semester wins an A in English from Dr.Preston. Anyone can play to win and everyone should be invited to be an author with the exception of some people in 5th period. Once you accept authorship you will be awarded your first 10 points ( with the exception of 5th period who will win 15 points because they are at disadvantage due to technical difficulties).
Remember that this is a learning community that shows growth and helps everyone learn collaboratively so who knows maybe if this is a tough race then many of the close competitors will be considered for a increased grade.

Apple laptops
Noah Hernandez (CC'd) can get apple laptops with chargers and Microsoft office 2011 for $150 or less. Considering the software alone retails for over $100, this is a great deal. Email Noah for details.
noah.ray.hernandez@gmail.com
Update: the more people that contact Noah for laptops the cheaper he can buy them for. He can also get them without batteries for even cheaper meaning they would have to constantly be plugged in to work.

Help Us Come Up With A Score Guideline?
I don't want to be bias, picky, "be nice to, to get points" guy for you peeps to gain points. That's why we should all come with a score guideline. Again, I don't want to be picky about what topics you must have and what points they are assigned to, but please comment or go to the forums (under the thread "Scavenger Hunt Ideas") with ideas about which stuff should really count as points. Ideas can overlap too and don't be embarrassed to pitch in ideas. We can't do this alone!
Also, I was astonished to see Erica's post about why Lupita should gain ten points for basically being an awesome person and attentive blogger. I like that and I think we should comment positive things about people's blogs. Everyone deserves the easiest 10 points ever by doing so. Post about other people's blog on your personal/English blog because you know you're awesome as well.

What if there is no "They"?
The students that got locked down in period 6 discussed the lock down and got to thinking what it would be like to work in an environment with "they". No authorities or institution to make this place feel so much like a prison. They discussed how we would interact and how this class could run without Mr.Preston always being in front and teaching.
This is a new generation and teaching has to evolve like the time has. So what is the next step in public education going to be and can schools survive without "them".
Joey would of been a GOD...
30 years ago Joey would have been a god with his 5g of data in phone. Back then one Gig of memory was worth $300,000.
So let the games begin
This site is made to build a learning community out of a game, it is ever evolving and is subject to change but as for now this game is controlled using the scoreboard. You can get points for any thing and everything. So do worthwhile and share it. Get enough points to get yourself a decent grade but don't just play for the grade play to learn and start that conversation. During period 6 we have given away points for anything from just small acts of kindness to saying something cool in class.
Anyone that can get to 150 points will be given authorship for this blog. That gives you control to post anything, control to the scoreboard and overall control to enhancing your learning.
So share and give us any reason to give you points.

Let's Start Trending
A few days ago, something so obvious, so vague, so simple, and so "really internet, it's not a big deal" trend started to view one teen as the center of social media. #Alexfromtarget started trending on Twitter by no apparent reason. I don't know why this guy is so famous, but he is now and deserves it... I guess.
It takes a lot of people to get something trending and I was thinking that with the ideas we input together, we can make it work. Heck if this works because of an Instagram pic, sheesh we might have to take the alternative of profiling "beautiful" people (Disclaimer: Not putting anyone down, no hate to anyone in general). I'm pretty sure we can show the world that this group can be nothing but magnificent students who only learn from doing the impossible, or better yet the possible as long as we do.

Sharing Authorship
Instead of always switching to the host email of the 5PH1NX Project, authorship will extend to everyone of the Open Source Learning Group if you provide your email by emailing to the 5PH1NX email, (sphinxproject2015@gmail.com).

It Begins
Everyone in the OPSL group 2015 are allowed to control whatever it is on this site. It can be anything and take in consideration from the forums. Ideas are meant to be shared. Edit and post on the blog to enhance your creative expertise. Make it tricky, awesome, and entertaining.
If you find discouragement on what to put, talk it out with your classmates at the forums and discuss the wide range of ideas to make this senior fun.
